Beaumaris Beach in Summer

Koreen Point, Back Beach, Blairgowrie

We drove down for the day to meet up with Jacquie & her kids. This time went over to the deserted 'rear' beach. It was wild, deserted, unsafe to swim, but absolutely breathtaking, beautiful.

Australian Open- The Grand Slam at Melbourne Park

Our first Grand Slam! What an experience. Watching the heavyweights at the Rod Laver Arena was a treat. Safin, Nadal, Del Potro, Djokovitch, Roddick, Simone, Monfils, Tsonga, Baghdadis, Dimentieva, Safina, Williams, Suarez and so many others. The quarters, semis and the finals we'll watch from home, but the buzz of being on the grounds and all the 21 neighboring courts with visitors from all over the world was very special. Hell, I'm inspired to pick up my racquet and bash a few balls with Mara or Tia - (Mo's too skilled on the courts for me!).

And here is what the wild and completely insane Baghdadis supporters were like. If you ever needed supporters, this is what you should wish for. An ecstatic bunch!

Street Art near Hardware Lane

Wandering the inner-city by lanes, I love these bits of complete surprise - like this staircase coming from and going nowhere. perhaps a muted message to the 9 to 5er munchkins scurrying to work!

'Testicle Crunching Terrier'

At the Victoria Market, Jeff Andressen turns out these lovely, insanely crazy, whimsical metal sculptures. I have the 'Testicle Crunching Terrier' - a real terror! The mentally nimble Jeff has others with memorable names like 'Psychophantic Sewer Rat', 'Turd Munching halitosis Hound', 'Binge Drinking Kitten with Spatial Disorientation', 'Septic tree Toad' and others too numerous and outrageous to mention.... Love his work (or not) but they're hard to ignore. I will acquire a few more...
