Seven Years On..

Yup, it’s been seven years since my last post. Seven freaking fuckadoodledoo looong years.
It’s amazing to be picking up the thread, and I’m all pumped up. And, it feels good to be writing in a little longer form than my cryptic tweet-bursts. (outbursts?)
The old blog posts from 2011 were definitely hacked with all kinds of garbage - from penile enlargement persuasions and calisthenic acrobatic sex addled artistes, and that same chap from Nigeria still trying to please, please use my bank to kindly park his £15 million...

I had to go in and clean up a lot of it, so it’s littered with broken links, and I finally decided to just leave it as is and move on. Living in the ‘now’...

So definitely the way I write will have changed over the years, I’m sure. I really hope so. Evolution is change. Change is good. Possibly it may reflect some abandon, and a sense of new adventures.
And speaking of adventures.... in a few days all of us are off for a long overdue family trip together.
Mexico 'May-hee-co' and the US. They better watch out. Hang onto your hat! And follow along if you please.

911 Carrera

My first test drive in this gorgeous machine. Yup, some of us can find machines gorgeous... A 911 Carrera 3.2L and in absolutely incredible shape. The old girl runs like a rocket - and I pick her up tomorrow morning! I'm then taking Mo for a long drive along the coast down to Mornington Peninsula. It's supposed to be a bright, sunny day, lots of wind & 18°C - Slip the sunroof back, burble along and explore...

"Now my nose is stuffed and my heart is broken..."

"Now my nose is stuffed and my heart is broken..." Tia, who is all of 7 years old said this to me on our drive back this evening. We had just dropped off her very best friend - Paula, who had spent the day with her. As we were driving off I realised that she was silently weeping and bubbling at the back of the car. I'd never seen here like that. Grief stricken. She was just inconsolable. Nothing we said would help, it was like she was in another place, and so far away - it really got to me. And it hits me just how much the kids will be affected by this move at this stage in their lives. As I mentioned somewhere in this blog, it's amazing just how much of their life gets uprooted, and they go along with whatever plans we lay out for them. "Now my nose is stuffed and my heart is broken..."
Mo & I told her that it's up to her to keep in touch with Paula, and when they're older they can meetup wherever and travel and visit, and they have all their incredible future waiting - oh, how exciting. Paula, at anytime you can contact Tia at - tia@marcbaptista.com

Max uses his fingers...

G'day mate, Max Waller get's down to it and digs in using his hands and all. We had a full-on meal of idlis, wadas, masala dosas, upmas, puris, korma and stuffed ourselves this morning at my favourite Udipi place at Upper Dixon Street in Little India. Max is en route to Siem Reap and will connect up with Pyna and hopefully have a grand time with all that expressive stone.

Hunnar Films

Wow, such a gas. Last week, Sunil Bhadekar, one of the designers (at my studio in Bombay - Hunnar Films), sent me this image! This is a part view of my studio in Bombay, circa 1988. I had just completed building the first ever 6° axis motion-control animation rig and also a dual-axis optical printer. The animation rig (and stepper controllers) are visible here. I have some more of those images packed away, and I have to haul them out sometime and post them on this blog. (Hunnar Films was started by my dad - Clement Baptista, a famous documentary filmmaker. After he passed away in 1986, I ran the studio, focusing primarily on advertising, shorts and fx for film. My brother Romir was also part of the operation)... ** Clement BaptistaImage: Sunil Bhadekar
